2019 Christmas Party, Brothers, our annual Christmas Party was held at Leonardo’s II restaurant located at 2021 Brunswick Avenue in Lawrenceville at 6:00 pm. The party was well attended as Parish Priests, Brother Knights along with their Guests enjoyed fellowship and a wonderful meal. Thank you to our Worthy Lecturer PGK Ronald Prykanowski who coordinated the event.
Super 50/50 Raffle Update: The winning Super 50/50 Raffle Ticket (number 1596) was drawn on December 7th during the Incarnation – St. James Cash Bingo. The winner was contacted and will receive a check for $2,577.50. This year there were 1,031 tickets sold for the Raffle, representing an increase of 158 sold tickets from last year’s total of 873! The Council will receive approximately $1,933, 75% of the proceeds. (Subject to final determination of operational costs; raffle permits, printing etc.). Proceeds will be used for our Knights of Columbus charitable activities. Special thanks to Deputy Grand Knight Tom DeFalco for chairing the Raffle and ALL the Brothers for their help through this long process. Many Brothers put in long hours helping to sell tickets at both Parishes and ISJ Community events. Several Brothers were able to sell/buy their total allotted tickets, with some Brothers selling more than their allotment! We would not have reached the number of sold Raffle Tickets without YOUR perseverance.
Faith in Action Programs Update:
Consecration of the Holy Family - Invite each family in your parish to consecrate themselves to the Holy Family. PGK Mike Murphy and PGK Tom Voorhees met with Pastors Fr. Tom and Fr Mike. They have agreed to conduct a Consecration to the Holy Family at the ISJ and OLGC parishes (December 29th and 30th ) which coincides with the Feast of the Holy Family (this year on December 29th), We will need Brother Knights to distribute prayer cards and brochures at each Mass at both parishes. The most efficient way for the Council to accomplish this task may be for Brother Knights to distribute information at the Mass they attend at their Parish that weekend.
Free Throw Championship
Deputy Grand Knight Tom DeFalco is exploring the possibility with the Ewing Recreation Department of sponsoring a competition for youth ages 9 to 14 in Ewing Township on January 11th or 18th. The Free Throw Championship Kit has been ordered and shipped from Supreme.
Send a Hero Home for the Holidays Update:
As of the afternoon of December 9th the Trenton Diocesan Federation of Knights reports that they have processed applications for 197 active duty service personnel. So far $72,000 has been raised (which includes $700 from Council 3756) and $85,000 plus has been spent. The Federation is anticipating receiving additional donations and would like to make this a year-round event for collections not just during the Holidays.
Merry Christmas to All!
Frank Ferdetta, Grand Knight
